This Christmas, the Aid Ship Charitable Foundation took the initiative to bring warmth to the residents of the Dnipropetrovsk Geriatric Boarding House. I’d like to share a bit about the event:
The foundation had very little time to organize this holiday. In just one Sunday, we spoke to every person living in the boarding house and asked the 600 residents, “What would you like to receive for Christmas?” Each person had a different answer—some wanted a smart TV, others a budget phone, and some simply requested ordinary socks!
We immediately started searching for these gifts, with assistance from our secret Santas. They played a crucial role in choosing what each person would receive, as well as coordinating the packaging and delivery.
Everything seemed to be going according to plan, but then we thought, “Why not host a Christmas dinner?” However, it wasn’t that simple. We discovered that the residents had never tasted McDonald’s in their lives! So, the foundation initiated negotiations with McDonald’s to prepare 600 McMenus for the boarding house residents!
We thought everything should proceed smoothly, but we faced some challenges, including:
Delivery: Our primary goal was to deliver everything hot since McDonald’s isn’t as enjoyable when it’s cold. The “VarFamily” food delivery service came to our aid, providing thermal bags for transporting the food. We extend our heartfelt thanks to them, as the food wouldn’t have been as tasty without their assistance.
Anxiety: During a period of anxiety, McDonald’s temporarily ceases its operations. This meant the entire event had to be postponed, which was particularly concerning given that the elderly residents couldn’t easily move around. Unfortunately, we encountered this challenge just when we were about to bring McDonald’s to the people. Fortunately, the alarm ended quickly, and everyone was satisfied!
We’d also like to express our gratitude to the charitable foundation “1+1 is no longer alone.” Thank you very much for assisting in organizing the event within the boarding house. They helped us sort and distribute the gifts on each floor, ensuring we could promptly deliver the desired gifts to the right individuals.
Thanks to the coordinated efforts of the “Relief Ship” charity fund, the “1+1 is no longer alone” fund, our secret Santas, and delivery service “VarFamily”we succeeded. All residents of the Dnipropetrovsk Geriatric Boarding House were content with delicious food and the gifts they desired!
