In the aftermath of total blackouts, numerous individuals compelled to abandon their homes find themselves in precarious situations due to the absence of heating and electricity. Recognizing the urgency of the matter, our team took swift action to address these pressing needs.
At the Orlovska Shelter, where the impact of blackouts was keenly felt, we procured and delivered 18 gas burners along with 72 gas bottles. This initiative aimed to empower people to cook and warm their food, regardless of the challenging conditions they faced. Prioritizing safety, we unpacked, checked, and demonstrated the proper usage of these resources according to safety guidelines.
During blackouts, the repercussions extend beyond electricity failure to the breakdown of heating systems within buildings. Understanding this, we equipped the shelter with a generator to ensure continuous power and provided 100 warm blankets to alleviate the biting cold. These blankets, crafted by a local manufacturer in Dnipro, were delivered directly to the shelter.
In the Orlovska Shelter on Orlovska Street, 20 children, whose families were directly affected by the war, found refuge. On the day of our visit, all the families residing in the shelter gathered near the New Year tree, creating a warm and festive atmosphere. Capturing these heartwarming moments, photos of children with their presents can be viewed here.
